TIFFIN, Ohio- The Lake Erie College women's soccer team snapped a two game slide as they jumped back into the win column with a 2-1, come-from-behind win over the Tiffin Dragons on Sunday (Sept. 25) afternoon.
Lake Erie improved to 5-2 on the season and 1-1 in conference play. Tiffin fell to 1-7 and 0-2 in the GLIAC.
Tiffin took an early 1-0 lead in the tenth minute as the Dragons put a shot over the head of Storm goalkeeper Marissa Brannon (Concord, Ohio / Lake Catholic).
Brannon kept the Dragons off of the board from that point forward and the Storm offense backed her up.
Just before the end of the first half, Alecia Dipre (Mentor, Ohio / Mentor) tied the game at one with a goal off of a free kick. Dipre's first goal of the season made it 1-1 at the intermission.
In the 66th minute, Dipre had a corner kick for the Storm. Dipre put the kick into the box and Elizabeth Awuah (Pickerington, Ohio / Pickerington Central) headed it past the Dragons' keeper. Awuah's fourth goal of the year proved to be the game-winner.
Brannon made 11 saves in the goal for the game as Tiffin shot the ball 24 times. Lake Erie took 18 shots.
Lake Erie will have a quick turnaround as they will play host to Ursuline on Tuesday (Sept. 27) in a non-conference game.
