PAINESVILLE, Ohio- Off to a 3-0 start in the 2016 season, the Lake Erie College women's soccer team will return to Jack Britt Memorial Stadium for two matchups this week. The Storm will host Salem International on Thursday (Sept. 15) and Walsh on Sunday (Sept. 18). The matchup with Walsh will open GLIAC play for the Storm.
Storm Report: Lake Erie comes home to the Britt with a 3-0 record. Lake Erie brought home a 3-0 victory over Carlow on Saturday (Sept. 10). Kynslie Murphy (Parma, Ohio/Valley Forge), Holland Erb (Akron, Ohio/Walsh Jesuit) and Elizabeth Awuah (Pickerington, Ohio/Pickerington Central) all scored goals in the shutout.
GLIAC Honorable Mention: Two Storm players were named to the GLIAC Honorable Mention list on Tuesday. On offense, Erb was named to the list after she scored her first career collegiate goal in the win over Carlow. On defense, Marissa Brannon (Concord, Ohio/Lake Catholic) was named to the list for the second consecutive week.
Series History: The Storm and the Tigers of Salem International have not ever faced in a matchup. Since 2009, Walsh leads the series with a 1-3-1 record in five matchups. Lake Erie and Walsh tied 0-0 in two overtimes at the Britt.
Opposition Position: Salem International comes to the Britt with a 0-5 record in 2016. The Tigers dropped a 4-0 decision to Washington Adventist on Tuesday (Sept. 13). Walsh currently has a 2-1-1 record on the year. Most recently, Walsh fell 1-0 to Roberts Wesleyan. The Cavaliers will face Point Park on Friday (Sept. 16) prior to coming to Painesville.
Storm Forecast: Lake Erie will travel to Ashland to face the Eagles in a GLIAC matchup on September 23rd.
