MARQUETTE, Mich. – The Lake Erie College women's soccer team was defeated today by Northern Michigan, 1-0. With the loss the Storm falls to 2-8 overall and 1-5 in the conference, and with the win the Huskies improve to 2-7 overall and 2-3 in conference play.
The first half was a scoreless battle, in which both teams had opportunities to score. In the first half Lake Erie took five shots, one of which was on target.
In the second half the Huskies broke the scoreless drought with 10 minutes remaining in the game when Wynona Maravilla scored off of an assist by Carmen Villarruel, to make the score 1-0 in favor of Northern Michigan, the Huskies held on to win 1-0.
In net for the Storm was Marissa Brannon (Concord, Ohio / Lake Catholic) she faced 16 shots, six of which were on goal, made five saves, and allowed one goal.
Lake Erie will be back in action Friday (October 9th) when they host Ferris St. at 5:30 P.M.
