HOUGHTON, Mich. – The Lake Erie College women's soccer team was defeated by Michigan Tech. today, 2-1. With the loss the Storm falls to 2-7 overall and 1-4-1 in the conference and with the win the Huskies improve to 5-3 overall and 2-2-1 in conference play.
Michigan Tech opened the scoring in the first half when Lexi Herrewig scored an unassisted goal to give the Huskies a 1-0 lead. Later in the half, Herrewig added her second goal and the Huskies took a 2-0 advantage.
The Storm cut into the Huskies lead when Kynslie Murphy (Parma, Ohio / Valley Forge) scored an unassisted goal, and made the score 2-1 in favor of Michigan Tech. The Huskies held on to win the game, 2-1.
In net for the Storm was Marissa Brannon (Concord, Ohio / Lake Catholic) she faced 17 shots, nine of which were on goal, made seven saves, and allowed two goals.
Lake Erie will be back in action Sunday (October 4th) when they travel to take on Northwood.
