PAINESVILLE, Ohio – The Lake Erie College women's soccer team was defeated today by Northwood University, 2-0. With the loss the Storm falls to 2-6 overall and 1-3 in the conference and with the win the Timberwolves improve to 2-4-1 overall and 2-2 in conference play.
The first half was a scoreless battle in which both teams were able to generate opportunities to score, with 11 total shots in the half between the two teams. The Storm threatened when Kynslie Murphy (Parma, Ohio / Valley Forge) crossed a ball to Ashley Pryce (Stow, Ohio / Stow Munroe Falls) but they were unable to connect for the goal.
Northwood scored the first goal of the second half when Allison Carroll scored off of a corner kick, to give the Timberwolves a 1-0 advantage. Northwood added a second goal when Sara Lamphere scored off of an assist by Carly Whitson, to make the score 2-0.
In net for the Storm was Marissa Brannon (Concord, Oh / Lake Catholic) she faced 11 shots, six of which were on goal, made four saves, and allowed two goals.
Lake Erie will be back in action Friday (October 2nd) when they travel to take on Michigan Tech. at 7 P.M.
