CANTON, Ohio – The Lake Erie College women's soccer team was defeated today (September 18th) by Malone University, 4-0. With the loss the Storm falls to 1-4 overall and 0-1 in the conference, and with the win Malone improves to 3-2 overall and 1-0 in conference play.
The Pioneers opened the scoring in the first half when Christine Najjar found the back of the net off of a an assist by Corrin Hayberg. Later in the first half Malone added to the lead when Brianna Smith scored off of an assist by Najjar, to make the score 2-0 in favor of Malone.
In the second half, the Pioneers added two more goals Najjar scored off of an assist by Darby Burch, and Hayberg scored an unassisted goal. Malone held on to win the game 4-0.
In net for the Storm was Marissa Brannon (Concord, Oh / Lake Catholic) she faced 20 shots, eight of which were on goal, and made four saves.
Lake Erie will be back in action Sunday (September 20th) when they travel to take on Grand Valley St. at 12 P.M.
