AMHERST, NY – The Lake Erie College women's soccer team was victorious today (September 11th) over Daemen College, 3-1. With the win the Storm improves to 1-2 on the season and with the loss the Wildcats fall to 0-3.
Daemen opened the scoring in the 14th minute when Alexis Koral found the back of the net off of an assist by Stephanie Zurales. The Storm responded three minutes later to tie the game at 1-1, when Alecia Dipre (Mentor, Ohio / Mentor) curled a free kick back post from just outside the top of the box.
The Storm took the lead five minutes into the second half when Ashley Pryce (Stow, Ohio / Stow Munroe Falls) scored an unassisted goal from the top of the box. Elizabeth Awuah (Pickerington, Ohio / Pickerington Central) capped the scoring when she found the back of the net off of a penalty kick, to give the Storm a 3-1 advantage.
In net for Lake Erie was Marissa Brannon (Concord, Oh / Lake Catholic) she faced 12 shots, eight of which were on goal, made seven saves, and allowed one goal.
The Storm will be back in action Tuesday (September 15th) when they travel to take on Davis and Elkins at 3 P.M.
