PAINESVILLE, Ohio – The Lake Erie College women's soccer team was defeated by Ashland University today (October 24th), 2-1. With the loss the Storm fallto 6-8-1 overall and 2-6-1 in the conference and with the winthe Eagles improve to 8-6 overall and 4-5 in conference play.
The first half was scoreless in which both teams had multiple opportunities to score. The Storm was outshot by the Eagles, 7-3.
In the second half freshman forward Ashley Pryce (Stow, Ohio / Stow Munroe Falls) scored an unassisted goal to give the Storm a 1-0 advantage with 37 minutes to play.
A minute later the Eagles leveled the match when Kelsey McKernan found the back of the net to make the score 1-1. Ashland took the lead with 21 minutes left to play in the game when forward Morgan Bittengle scored to make the score 2-1.
In net for Lake Erie College was senior Sarah Stroope (Oxford, Mich. / Oxford) she faced 13 shots, eight of which were on goal, made six saves, and allowed two goals.
The Storm will be back in action Sunday (October 26th) when they travel to take on Tiffin University at 1 P.M.
