PAINESVILLE, Ohio- The Lake Erie College women's soccer team tied today (October 12th) against Michigan Tech, 1-1. The Storm is now 5-5-1 overall and 2-3-1 in the conference, and the Huskies are 7-1-1 overall and 5-0-1 in conference play.
The first half was a hard fought scoreless battle with both teams having multiple opportunities to find the back of the net. Lake Erie was out shot by Michigan Tech. 10-5 in the first half.
The scoring was opened in the second half when midfielder Janelle Riedl scored off an assist from midfielder Jacqualine Mielke to make the score 1-0 in favor of the Huskies.
A minute later the Storm evened the scored on a rebound goal by freshman forward Ashley Pryce (Stow, Ohio / Stow Munroe Falls) to make the score 1-1 with three minutes to play.
Neither team was able to break the 1-1 deadlock in overtime, and the game ended as a 1-1 draw.
In net for the Storm was senior Sarah Stroope (Oxford, Mich. / Oxford) she faced 23 shots, 12 of which were on goal, made 11 saves, and allowed one goal.
Lake Erie College will be back in action when they travel to take on Walsh University on Friday (October 17th) at 7 P.M.
