UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – The Lake Erie College women's soccer team was defeated by #18 Saginaw Valley St. University today (October 5th), 3-0. With the loss the Storm falls to 5-4 overall and 2-2 in the conference, and with the win the Cardinals improve to 7-0-2 overall and 5-0-1 in conference play.
The scoring was opened 12 minutes into the first half when midfielder Shelby Watts scored on an assist from midfielder Presley Tibbetts to give the Cardinals a 1-0 advantage.
In the second half Saginaw Valley widened the margin when Tibbetts scored on an assist from Watts to make the score 2-0, with 41 minutes left to play in the game. Forward Ashley Henderson scored on an assist from defender Jaclyn Zembrodt for the Cardinals to make the scored 3-0, at the 58 minute mark.
In net for the Storm was sophomore Elizabeth Awuah (Pickerington, Ohio / Pickerington Central) she faced 11 shots, eight of which were on goal, made five saves, and allowed three goals.
Lake Erie College is back in action Friday (October 10th) when they host Northern Michigan University at 1 P.M.
