Storm Fall to #4 Grand Valley, 3-1

PAINESVILLE, Ohio- The Lake Erie College women's soccer team fell to number four ranked Grand Valley St. today (September 26th), 3-1.

The first half was scoreless with both teams having multiple chances to take the lead.  The Lakers outshot the Storm 10-3 in the first half.   

The Lakers opened the scoring in the first minute of the second half when Gabriella Mencotti made the score, 1-0.  Two minutes later Mencotti netted her second of the game to give Grand Valley a 2-0 advantage.  Grand Valley took a 3-0 lead when Charile Socia scored with 10 minutes to play in the game.

Senior defender Grace Ferut (Medina, Ohio / Medina) scored and made the score 3-1 on a header off of a cross from freshman defender Alecia Dipre.   This is the first goal and assist for Ferut and Dipre on the season. 

In net for the Storm was senior Sarah Stroope (Oxford, Mich. / Oxford) she faced 17 shots, nine of which were on goal, made six saves, and allowed three goals. 

Lake Erie College is back in action Sunday (September 28th) when they host Malone University at 4 P.M. at Jack Britt Memorial Stadium.
