GREENSBURG, Pa.- The Lake Erie College women's soccer team defeated Seton Hill University today (September 16th), 3-1. With the win the Storm improve to 3-1 on the season, and Seton Hill falls to 2-2 overall.
The Storm opened the scoring in the first half when freshman forward Kalah Saunders (Cleveland Heights, Ohio / Cleveland Heights) got on the end of a free kick taken by sophomore forward Elizabeth Awuah (Pickerington, Ohio / Pickerington Central) to give the Storm a 1-0 advantage.
In the second half, Lake Erie College widened the lead when sophomore forward Abigail O'Hair (Maumee, Ohio / Maumee) scored off of a cross from senior defender Grace Ferut (Medina, Ohio / Medina). This was O'Hair's first goal of the season, making the score 2-0.
The Griffins narrowed the margin when Megan Warman scored a goal in the 55th minute to make the score 2-1.
The Storm regained a 2 goal advantage when freshman forward Ashley Pryce (Stow, Ohio / Stow Munroe Falls) made the score, 3-1. This marks the first goal of her career.
In net for Lake Erie College was senior Sarah Stroope (Oxford, Mich. / Oxford) she faced 16 shot, nine of which were on goal, and made eight saves and allowed one goal.
Lake Erie College will be back in action Sunday (September 21st) when they host Davis and Elkins College at 4 P.M. on Jack Britt Memorial Stadium.
