Women' Soccer Can't Overcome Early Deficit at Ashland

Lake Erie College (2-9-1, 0-9 GLIAC) lost to GLIAC foe Ashland University (3-6-2, 2-5-2 GLIAC), 3-0, in a road contest in Ashland, Ohio.  The Eagles beat the Storm by an identical 3-0 score in Painesville in the first matchup in September.

Ashland got all three of its goals in the first 22 minutes and then sat on the big lead.  Deanna Gundling scored the first two goals, each assisted by Jamie Greene, in the seventh and 20th minutes.  In the 22th minute, Savannah Garside put the Eagles up by the final 3-0 margin.

Ashland won the battle of shots, 24-4, while each team attempted three corner kicks.

Freshman Megan Baldacci (Cavecreek, Ariz./Cactus Shadows) played the first half and made five saves.  Junior Chelsea Giesen (Grants Pass, Ore./North Valley) did not allow a goal in the second half and made two saves.

The Storm return to action on Friday when they kick off a GLIAC road weekend with a trip to Saginaw Valley State.
