PAINESVILLE, OHIO - Freshman goalkeeper Jaimie Nelson (Las Vegas, Nev./Las Vegas) turned away 15 shots, but a LaRoche College goal midway through the second half proved to be the difference in the Lake Erie College women's soccer team's 2-1 road loss Saturday (Sept. 5).
Bethanie Moreschi scored both goals for LaRoche (2-0). Her first goal gave the Redhawks an early 1-0 lead before Storm (1-2) freshman Kaitlyn Holland (Pickerington, Ohio/Pickerington North) tied it up with her first career goal.
Midway through the second period, Moreschi connected again for the eventual game-winner.
Nelson made eight saves in the first half and seven more in the second in her first career start. Freshman Valerie Urbanik (North Ridgeville, Ohio/North Ridgeville) assisted on Holland's goal for her second assist in as many games. She's totaled a goal and two helpers in the last two contests.
Lake Erie returns to action on Wednesday when it opens a seven-match homestand against the University of Pittsburgh-Johnstown at 4 p.m.
