No. 25 Lake Erie Places Five In Annual Storm Open

(PAINESVILLE, Ohio) – The annual Storm Open was hosted by No. 25 Lake Erie today as over 25 teams visited a capacity-filled Osborne Center with six mats of action. With hundreds of student-athletes competing, the Storm were able to place five between the 10 weight classes.

The top performances by the Green and White came from the heavyweights as Evan Loughman and Brandon Houle took third and fourth place, respectively. Loughman opened up the day with a pair of early falls over Notre Dame's Josh Pearson and Gannon's Dan Burkhart to advance to the semifinals. Houle's trek there took a bye in the opening round before a fall over another Notre Dame Falcon in Paul McKnight.

In the semis, Loughman suffered a major decision defeat to Ohio State's Gary Traub, but took third over Houle who declared medical forfeits for the final two bouts.

Tylor Orrison gave the Storm 11.5 team points after a fourth place finish at 174. He opened with a fall over Seton Hill's William Romjue and added a tech fall against Kent State's Lane Hinkle.

Forrest Glogouski also provided double-digit team points with 10 after a major decision win over Ashland's Jerry Fenner and Justo Hernandez of Gannon. He took fourth in the 141-lbs. division after being defeated by a pair of Division I opponents.

Jesse Palser finished sixth in the 184-pound weight class after a win against Michigan State's Wyatt Cool in the consolation bracket.

The Storm will compete in one more event before Christmas break. That will come in two weeks when Lake Erie heads to UIndy for the Midwest Classic on December 15 and 16.
