Storm Maintains Top Spot in Super Region II Rankings

BELMONT, N.C.-- The Lake Erie College wrestling team continues to sit atop the Super Region-II rankings in the latest Coaches' Poll released by Monday (December 1). 

The Storm is off to a hot start this season in opens and invitationals.  After a strong showing in the Michigan State and Mercyhurst Open to start the season, the Storm captured first-place at the Mount Union Invitational.  In their first duel of the season, the Storm demolished Alderson-Broaddus University, 43-6, winning every contested bout.

Several individuals were also recognized by in the weight class rankings.  Evan Rosborough (Concord Twp., Ohio/Riverside) is ranked first at 197-pounds after winning 12 matches so far this season- nine by pinfall and three by major decision.  Matt Vandermeer (Clarkston, Mich./Clarkston), the program's first All-American in 2012, is ranked second at 165-pounds after a solid start this season.  Dylan Zivcic (Mentor, Ohio/Mentor/Lakeland), who joined Rosbrough in winning the individual title at the Mount Union Invitational, ranks third at 174-pounds.  Ian Ross (Newark, N.Y./Newark), a former national qualifier, is also ranked third at 125-pounds.  Christian Baughman (Wadsworth, Ohio/Wadsworth) and Tyler Hughes (Brunswick, Ohio/Brunswick) are ranked fourth and fifth at 157- and 184-pounds respectively. 

The Storm is back in action next weekend (December 13-14) at the Midwest Classic held in Indianapolis.
