PHILIPPI, W. Va.-- The Lake Erie College wrestling team was impressive in their first dual of the year, winning every contested bout en route to a 43-6 victory over Alderson-Broaddus University.
The evening started with the 184-pound bout. Tyler Hughes (Brunswick, Ohio/Brunswick) set the tone early for the Storm with an impressive 15-2 major decision win over Garrett Onderko. Evan Rosborough (Concord Township, Ohio/Riverside) continued to roll this season, picking up another pinfall victory at 197-pounds over Nick Nester.
After Alderson-Broaddus captured six points due to a forfeit at the heavyweight position, Ian Ross (Newark, N.Y./Newark) picked up where Rosborough left off as he defeated Cory Buchanan by a 9-5 decision at 125-pounds. Ross Bahro (Keego Harbor, Mich./West Bloomfield) picked up another decision victory for the Storm at 133-pounds with a 5-3 win over Micah Powell.
Nick Boggs (Concord, Ohio/Riverside) continued to excel in his freshman year, pinning Chris Brent in the first round at 141-pounds. Classmate Chayse Csongedi (Parma, Ohio/Parma) followed up Boggs' first round pin with one of his own at 149-pounds over Jason West. Christian Baughman (Wadsworth, Ohio/Wadsworth) continued the momentum for the Storm with a 7-4 decision over Keith Stednitz at 157-pounds.
The Storm closed out the night with a pair of back-to-back pins by Nicholas Vandermeer (Clarkston, Mich./Clarkston) at 165-pounds and Alec Mills (Coumbus, Ohio/Mifflin) at 174-pounds over Logan Shurina and Cody Spinks respectively.
The Storm is off until December 13th when they travel to Indianapolis for the Midwest Classic.
