INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.-- Zak Vargo (Stow, Ohio/Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy) captured the 157-pound title at the 35th Annual Midwest Classic Sunday (Dec. 15).
Evan Rosborough (Concord Township, Ohio/Riverside) took fifth at 197-pounds and Austin Gillihan (Corry, Pa./Corry Area) took seventh at 133-pounds to lead the Storm to an eighth-place finish at the event.
In the semifinals, Vargo picked up his third first-round pin of the tournament, this time coming in 29 seconds against Josh Ballard of McKendree College. Vargo then defeated Joe Cozart of Lindsey Wilson College, 6-4, in the finals to win the title. Cozart is the top-ranked NAIA wrestler at 157-pounds.
Rosborough was pitted up against Samuel Johnson of the University of the Cumberlands in the fifth-place match, coming away with a 4-3 win.
Gillihan picked up a 9-7 decision over Joey Kratochil of East Stroudsburg University to capture a seventh-place finish.
The Storm is back in action on Jan. 5, participating in the Storm Open held at Lake Erie.
