2011-12: Posted a 5-7 overall record as a sophomore, wrestling at 174 and 184 pounds... won his only dual meet start... placed sixth at 174 pounds at the Baldwin-Wallace College John Suma Memorial Tournament... named to Division II Coaches Academic All-American team and GLIAC All-Academic Team.

2010-11: Wrestled primarily at 184 pounds as a freshman for the Storm, recording eight victories on the season... won three matches in dual competition, including a thrilling overtime decision against Seton Hill... went 1-2 at the Midwest Classic.

PRIOR TO LAKE ERIE: Was a three-sport standout at Northwestern High School, wrestling for four years and playing four years of football and three of track... was a three-time sectional place winner including a championship as a senior and also placed twice at the district meet and once at regionals... posted a 35-7 record as a senior...was a team captain in football... member os National Honor Society, Spanish Club, Ski Club, Drama Club and Fantasia Singers while also serving as class president.

PERSONAL: Born Aug. 5, 1992... majoring in political science and history... minoring in math... parents are Boots and Bette Merritt... active on campus as a member of Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, Math Club, Orientation Leader and as a resident assistant... currently serves as the GLIAC's representative to the national SAAC board.
