PAINESVILLE, Ohio – The Great Midwest Athletic Conference women's lacrosse regular season champion Lake Erie College will close the 2018 regular season with Senior Day against the Walsh University Cavaliers on Saturday (April 28) at 11:00 AM.
Storm Report: Lake Erie is 13-2 overall and 11-0 in the G-MAC heading into the regular season finale. The Storm defeated Ohio Valley 21-2 on Thursday (April 26) as four different players scored four goals apiece. Taylor Mathis (Corning, N.Y. / Corning), Anna Spin (Auburn, N.Y. / Auburn), Riley Heffron (Livermore, Ca. / Granada) and Anastasia Crawford (Corning, N.Y. / Corning Painted Post East) all scored four goals against the Fighting Scots. Lake Erie is ranked fifth in the Midwest Region rankings. A. Spin leads the Storm with 59 goals, 31 assists and 90 points (a G-MAC season record). Earlier this week, A. Spin was named Great Midwest Offensive Player of the Week for the third time this season.
Senior Day: The Storm will honor six seniors on Saturday. Mathis, Crawford, Cecilia Spin (Auburn, N.Y. / Auburn), Jordan Jernigan (Akron, Ohio / Firestone), Haley Andersen (Henderson, Nev. / Coronado), and Haley Abraham (Canandaigua, N.Y. / Canandaigua Academy) will be recognized pre-game.
Opposition Position: Walsh is 11-5 overall and 8-3 in the G-MAC after a 17-9 win over Ursuline on Thursday (April 26). The Cavaliers have clinched a spot in the G-MAC Tournament in Painesville next weekend. Emma Armour is the leading scorer for the Cavaliers with 38 points, 26 assists and 64 points.
Series History: Lake Erie is 7-0 against the Cavaliers in the series history. Earlier this season, A. Spin scored five goals as Lake Erie rallied from a 7-4 deficit with 11 goals in the second half. The Storm won 16-11 in the first meeting this season.
Storm Forecast: Lake Erie will host the G-MAC Tournament, that begins on Thursday (May 3) and face the #4 seed.
