FINDLAY, Ohio—The Lake Erie College women's lacrosse team bowed out of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Championships with an 11-4 loss to the University of Findlay Tuesday (May 3) in the quarterfinals.
The Storm got on the board first. Just over a minute into the game, Anna Spin (Auburn, N.Y./Auburn) scored on a free-position shot. However, the Oilers answered by scoring the next four goals. Anastasia Crawford broke up the Oilers run with a free-position goal with 10 minutes remaining in the half. Once again, the Oilers responded with a run, scoring the final three goals of the half to own a 7-2 lead heading into the final thirty minutes.
After a scoreless seven minutes to open the second half, Kayla Bohn (Louisville, Ky./Eastern) scored an unassisted goal to cut the lead to four. The Oilers responded with the next three goals, with the final coming with less than three minutes to play in the half. Cecilia Spin (Auburn, N.Y./Auburn) scored less than a minute later on a free position goal. However, the Oilers added one goal late in the game to seal the win.
Crawford, Bohn, Ann Spin and Cecelia Spin scored the Storm's goals.
Bohn also collected a game-high five groundballs. Anna Spin tallied three groundballs. Mallory Quiggle (Lewis Center, Ohio/Olentangy), Hana Abu-Kwiek (Lewis Center, Ohio/Olentangy Orange) and Emma Miller (Mentor, Ohio/Mentor) had two groundballs apiece. Anna Spin and Cecelia Spin grabbed four draw controls each.
