PAINESVILLE, OHIO – Lake Erie College jumped out to a two-goal lead midway through the first half but a five-goal run from Seton Hill University late in the half turned out to be the game changer in a 19-11 Storm defeat in women's lacrosse action at Jack Britt Memorial Stadium in Painesville, Ohio
The Storm jumped out to 5-3 lead when Kudla scored from in tight at 15:17 of the first half. Howe was also a big part of the Green and White's early lead with three goals in the first 15 minutes. The Griffins got hot and over the next seven minutes scored five consecutive goals to take an 8-5 advantage. Kudla ended the run with her second make but a Seton Hill goal sent the visitor to the half with a 9-6 lead.
The second half opened as defensive struggle with nearly seven minutes of scoreless action to start the half until Kudla scored to bring the margin to 9-7. Four minutes later the Storm would get back within two again at 10-8 when sophomore Allison Trombetti (Lewis Center, Ohio/Olentangy) scored her second goal of the day. It was as close as the Green and White would get as Seton Hill netted five of the next six goals to put the game out of reach.
Seton Hill won the battle of shots, 46-23, and draw controls, 21-11.
The Storm got a nice performance in goal from sophomore Brittanie Johnson (Hilliard, Ohio/Darby) with 13 saves.
Lake Erie has a ten day layoff, playing next on Saturday, April 30 with a home contest against ECC foe Mercy College at 11:00 a.m.
