PAINESVILLE, OHIO -- Freshman Meredith Howe (Fayetteville, N.Y./Jamesville Dewitt) bounced back from her worst game of the season, but the Lake Erie College women's lacrosse team couldn't bounce back into the win column as the Storm suffered its third straight loss, 21-10 at Seton Hill University on Wednesday night (April 21).
The Griffins (8-5, 3-1 ECC) led 2-0 behind a pair of goals from Rachel Hilbert before freshman Allison Trombetti (Lewis Center, Ohio/Olentangy) scored to cut the deficit in half 4:32 into the game. But Seton Hill responded with five straight goals to take command.
Howe scored to break the streak and added another before halftime to make the score 9-3 at the break.
The teams alternated scores to start the second half, with Howe's fourth goal of the game making it an 11-6 score with 21:57 to go. But the Griffins outscored Lake Erie 9-4 the rest of the way.
Hilbert led all scorers with eight goals while Amanda Mallkowski scored four times and Ashley White added three goals and six assists. Seton Hill had a 53-19 advantage in shots in the game.
In addition to Howe, Trombetti scored two goals as did classmate Kim Dang (Atlanta, Ga./Jackson).
The Storm (5-5, 1-3 ECC) looks to stop its slide at home Saturday, April 24, against East Coast Conference foe Dowling College.
