PAINESVILLE, OHIO – Lake Erie College head golf coach Milt Johnson announced the signing of Emily Long (Maumee, Ohio/Maumee) on Tuesday (Dec. 4). Long will hit the links for the Storm beginning with the 2013-14 season.
"Emily gives our team another player with quality post-season experience," Johnson said. "She has played with and against – and has beaten – some of the best players in the area. She continues to improve in all aspects of her game and has her sights set on becoming one of the top players in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference."
Long was a three-year varsity golfer at Maumee High School, earning All-Northern Lakes League accolades three times. She was an honorable mention selection as a sophomore, moving up to second-team All-NLL as a junior. As a senior, she tied for second at the league tournament and was a first-team All-NLL and second-team all-district selection.
"The best part of Emily's game is her attitude. She isn't satistifed with the progress she has made; she always wants to get better," Johnson added. "This is the kind of player we want and need in our program and I believe the other team members will feed off her attitude and her desire to improve and we as a team will get better as a whole."
