PAINESVILLE, OHIO – The Lake Erie College women's golf team wrapped up their 2012 Spring season at the GLIAC Championships in Midland, Mich. Tuesday (April 24).
The Storm did not place a team score but had three individuals compete, led by a strong showing from senior Amanda Blasko (Concord, Ohio/Mentor) in her final tournament. Blasko was in contention for much of day one before backing up in the final round to a tie for 16th.
Blasko finished the tournament with rounds of 79-85-89-263 at the par-71 course. She came just five strokes away from a top 10 finish. The senior excelled on the par 3s and 5s throughout the event, placing tied for third in the tournament in par 3 scoring and tied for sixth on the par 5s. The final score of 263 is a 31 stroke improvement over her finish in Lake Erie's first season at the GLIAC Tournament in 2011.
Lake Erie junior Megan Lundblad (Mentor, Ohio/Mentor) finished 38th after rounds of 98-98-94-290. Rounding out the Storm's effort was junior Stephanie Recktenwald (Stow, Ohio/Stow-Monroe Falls), who recovered from a difficult opening round to finish 41st with 121-105-101-327.
