Blasko and Lundblad Shoot Record Low Rounds on First Day on Mercyhurst Invite

PAINESVILLE, OHIO – Senior Amanda Blasko (Concord, Ohio/Mentor) and junior Megan Lundblad (Mentor) shot record low rounds and the Lake Erie College women's golf team posted a team total of 337, just one stroke out of a two-way tie for fourth place, on the first day of the 2011 season at the Mercyhurst College Fall Invitational Saturday (Sept. 10) at the Downing Golf Course in Erie, Pa.

Blasko and Lundblad each shot a 78 in the first round, the first sub-80 rounds by a member of the Storm women's golf team.  The pair is tied for fifth place on the individual scoreboard. The low round of the day was a 76 by Walsh University's Nikki Kalusa.  Three other's shot 77, putting Lake Erie's duo just two shots off the pace.

Freshman Andy Armstrong (Troy, Ohio/Troy) show a 90 in her collegiate debut and sophomore Taylor Wilson (Mentor, Ohio/Mentor) was close behind at 91. 

As a team, Lake Erie sits just one stroke behind Clarion University and Seton Hill University. Walsh has the first round team lead at 315.

Round two will finish off on Sunday morning, Sept. 11.
