Storm Edge Out Golden Eagles

PAINESVILLE, Ohio - The Lake Erie College Storm won on the road against Clarion University this evening with a final score of 67-62.

The Storm quickly got to work and opened up the game with a jumper by Farrah Benner, assisted by Josie Chaddock, and continued to go on a seven point run. They did not give up a point until the seven-minute mark in the first quarter.

The game was more even in the second quarter with the Storm having a one-point margin over the Golden Eagles with 2:30 seconds left until halftime. Lake Erie hung on though, and went into the locker rooms leading Clarion 35-33.

In the second half, the Storm opened it up like they started the game with a commanding eleven point lead for most of the third quarter, finishing with a score of 53-42 in favor of the Storm with one quarter left to play in the game.

Although the Storm and Golden Eagles traded scoring-runs back and forth, Lake Erie held out for the win with a final score of 67-42.

Josie Chaddock and Farrah Benner each scored 16 points. Chaddock also recorded 2 rebounds, 7 assists, and 2 steals. Benner recorded 4 rebounds, 4 assists, and 5 steals. Ashley West recorded a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds in 26 minutes played.

"This group's flexibility and adaptability is fun to coach. We are challenged every day in a new way and at this part of the season that's the attitude that you want and need", said Head Coach Brook Kohlheim. "I thought Ashley made some big plays down the stretch and demonstrated strong leadership when we needed it. Josie did a great job in our huddles when they were making their runs, it was fun to see them come together without me having to call a timeout."
With the win today on the road against Clarion, the Storm has an overall record of 2-0. Their next contest is another road game against Southern Indiana University on Saturday, November 24th. Tip-off is scheduled for 3:30pm.
