PAINESVILLE, Ohio - The Lake Erie College women's basketball team opens the 2018 calendar year with two consecutive home contests, both within the Great Midwest Athletic Conference. The Storm will host the Hillsdale College Chargers on Thursday (Jan. 4) at 7:30 PM and then will host the University of Findlay Oilers on Saturday (Jan. 6) at 3:00 PM.
Storm Report: Lake Erie is 6-5 overall and 3-3 in the G-MAC following a 63-58 victory over the Trevecca Nazarene Trojans on Saturday (Dec. 30) at the Osborne Center. The Storm had three players in double figures as Lake Erie held off a fourth quarter rally by the Trojans. Kayla Gabor (Mentor, Ohio / Mentor) had 19 points and six rebounds. Christine Dawson (Mentor, Ohio / Mentor) added 13 points and a team-high eight rebounds. Josie Chaddock (Minerva, Ohio / Minerva) had 11 points as well.
Opposition Position: Hillsdale comes to Painesville with a 7-5 overall record and a 5-3 conference mark after the Chargers defeated Alderson Broaddus 89-53 last weekend. Makenna Ott is the leading scorer for the Chargers, averaging 14.8 points per game. Findlay is 12-1 overall and 9-0 in the conference leading into a game against Ursuline before facing the Storm. The Oilers defeated Ohio Dominican 92-88 in overtime on Tuesday. Anna Hintz leads the Oilers with 18.8 points per game.
Series History: The Storm and the Chargers have met 12 times on the court in the series. Lake Erie is 3-9 against Hillsdale as the Storm fell in both matchups last season. The Storm is 3-11 against the Oilers overall since the Storm joined Division II. Lake Erie and Findlay split the season series last season, winning one game apiece.
Storm Forecast: The Storm will travel to Malone and Walsh for two Great Midwest contests on January 11th and 13th, respectively.
