PAINESVILLE, Ohio- The Lake Erie College women's basketball team will take their first road trip of 2017 as they will travel to face the Tiffin Dragons and the Walsh Cavaliers on Thursday (Jan. 12) and Saturday (Jan. 14), respectively. The Storm begins a stretch of 12 straight games against the GLIAC South teams.
Storm Report: The Storm is 5-9 on the season and 3-5 in the GLIAC after a 50-45 loss to #21 Grand Valley State last weekend. Josie Chaddock (Minerva, Ohio / Minerva) led the Storm with a career-high 15 points in the loss. Kayla Gabor (Mentor, Ohio / Mentor) leads the Storm and the GLIAC with an average of 19.7 points per game. Also, Gabor ranks 3rd in the GLIAC and Division II with a 51.6% three point shooting percentage.
Opposition Position: Tiffin enters the week with a 4-9 overall record and a 2-6 GLIAC mark after the Dragons fell to Michigan Tech 80-46 the last time out. Bre Nauman is the leading scorer for Tiffin with an average of 8.9 points per game and 5.4 rebounds per game. Walsh is currently 8-7 with a 4-4 record in the conference. The Cavaliers dropped their last game, a 70-53 loss to Saginaw Valley State. Brooklyn Wooten leads the Cavaliers with a 13.7 points per game average.
Series History: The Storm has met the Dragons 13 times on the hardwood since 2009. Lake Erie has won five matchups in the series. The teams split the season series in the 2015-16 season. The Storm has faced Walsh eight times since Walsh joined the GLIAC in 2012. Lake Erie won the very first matchup and lost both matchups last season.
Storm Forecast: The Storm will return to the Osborne Center for a matchup with the Ashland Eagles on January 19th.
