Storm Hosts Michigan Tech & Northern Michigan (Preview)

PAINESVILLE, Ohio- The Lake Erie College women's basketball team will return to the Osborne Center for a two game homestand, the only two home games in December. The Storm will host Michigan Tech on Thursday (Dec. 8) and Northern Michigan on Saturday (Dec. 10).

Coach Booher's Comments: "Both of these teams offer very different challenges. Michigan Tech has a very good perimeter game with highly accurate outside shooters.  Northern Michigan has great size and strength inside. Their records make them both GLIAC playoff contenders and will create some matchup concerns for us. We need to continue to bring the energy and intensity to them for 40 minutes each game."

Storm Report: Lake Erie is 2-5 following an 0-2 GLIAC opening weekend on the road. Lake Erie fell 69-67 at Wayne State on Thursday (Dec. 1). Christine Dawson (Mentor, Ohio / Mentor) led the Storm with 22 points in that game. On Saturday (Dec. 3), Lake Erie dropped a road matchup at Saginaw Valley State 87-58. Dawson led with 16 points. Kayla Gabor (Mentor, Ohio / Mentor) is the Storm's and the GLIAC's leading scorer with 19.7 points per game.

Series History: Since 2010, Lake Erie has faced both the Huskies and the Wildcats once every regular season. In seven matchups, the Storm is winless against with Michigan Tech. Last year, Lake Erie fell at home 65-29. Dawson led with eight points. Against Northerm Michigan, Lake Erie has an 0-6 record. One year ago, the Wildcats beat the Storm 45-38 at the O, with Kaeding Skelton scoring ten points.

Opposition Position: Michigan Tech enters Thursday with a 4-2 overall record and 0-1 in the GLIAC. The Huskies fell 68-65 to Walsh. Northern Michigan is 6-2 and 1-0 heading to the weekend, after a 68-51 victory against Walsh. The Wildcats will face Ohio Dominican before the Storm.

Storm Forecast: The Storm will return to Michigan next week for a pair of conference games at Lake Superior State and Northwood.
