ASHLAND, Ohio – The Lake Erie College women's basketball team was defeated to by fifth ranked Ashland, 86-55.
The Eagles opened the game on a 14-0 run that was ended by the media timeout in the first quarter. Ashland continued their strong play, and entered the second quarter with a big lead.
The Storm opened the second quarter with back to back layups by Kaeding Skelton (Grand Haven, Mich. / Grand Haven) and Christine Dawson (Mentor, Ohio / Mentor) to cut into the Eagles lead. The teams traded baskets for the remainder of the half and entered the intermission behind the Eagles. The Storm was led by Kayla Gabor (Mentor, Ohio / Mentor) as she had 5 points, and an assist.
Midway through the third quarter the Storm went on a quick 4-0 run in which Brianna Shagovac (Lorain, Ohio / Amherst Steele) hit a three off of an assist by Gabor to force an Ashland timeout. The Eagles ended the third quarter on a 9-0 run and stretched their lead.
The Storm was unable to muster any momentum in the fourth quarter, and fell to Ashland, 86-55.
Lake Erie was led by Dawson as she had a double double with 10 points, and 10 rebounds in the game. Gabor had 13 points, two assists, and a steal. Sami Narducci (North Royalton, Ohio / North Royalton) pitched in with four points, two assists, and two steals.
This was the last game of the 2015-2016 season for the Storm.
