PAINESVILLE, OHIO – Lake Erie College (10-4, 4-3 GLIAC) led nearly the entire way but game-ending 15-0 run earned Tiffin University (12-4, 7-3 GLIAC) a 73-62 GLIAC road win at the Jerome T. Osborne Family Athletic & Wellness Center.

Missing top senior wing Jen Caiola (South Russell, Ohio/Chagrin Falls), the Storm relied on their senior post players as Stephanie Rogers (Mentor, Ohio/Mentor) scored a game-high 16 points and grabbed eight boards while classmate Alyssa Wagers (Stow, Ohio/Stow-Munroe Falls) added 14 points.  Also in double figures for Lake Erie was senior guard Britt Busson (Wadsworth, Ohio/Wadsworth) with 11 points, including a pair of threes.  Tiffin was led by post Jessica Harris with 15 points and 13 rebounds and guard Karli Mast, with 15 points including three key three-pointers.  Five Dragon players reached double figures.

Both teams came out shooting as cold the Painesville temperature as during the first 15 minutes Lake Erie shot 33.3% while Tiffin was shooting 27.3%.  With 4:36 to play in the half, the Storm led 15-14 when their offense caught fire as a Rogers three-point play, a pair of Wagers free throws and a Busson three-pointer put the Storm ahead 23-14 at 3:19.  Lake Erie carried a 28-20 edge into the break as Rogers dominated the first 20 minutes with 10 points and seven rebounds.

Tiffin scored the first four points of the second half but the Storm quailed its run.  Lake Erie never led by less than four or more than nine at any point in the first eight minutes of the second half. The Storm moved ahead by double digits for the first time of the afternoon with 10:46 to play on a three-pointer by sophomore forward Chrissy Delaney (Delaware, Ohio/Lewis Center Olentangy) to make the score 46-36.  Lake Erie's lead moved to a game-high 11 points seconds later on a three by senior forward Allison Pavkov (Stow, Ohio/Stow-Munroe Falls) but the Dragons responded with an 8-0 run to get within three at 49-46 with 8:30 to play.  Lake Erie responded with a 6-0 run but Tiffin then match with its own 6-0 spurt to make the score 55-52 with 5:24 to play.  A Rogers layup slowed down the Dragons but did not go away scoring the next four points to get within one at 57-56.  The teams traded baskets before senior guard Cate Cianchetti (Stow, Ohio/Stow-Munroe Falls) gave the Storm some breathing room with a three-pointer from Busson with 2:42 to play to move ahead 62-58.

It was the last time Lake Erie scored as Tiffin scored on every possession the rest of the way.  The Dragons took their first lead of the second half at 63-62 on a Mast three-pointer with 1:50 to play and added a big insurance three at 1:18 from Jennifer Johnston, who made four in the game, to go ahead 66-62.  The Storm was forced to foul in the final minute with the Dragons going seven-of-eight from the line.

The difference in the contest was rebounding, as the Dragons held a 42-28 edge.  Tiffin shot 16-of-27 (59.3%) in the second half after going just eight-of-27 (27.6%) in the first half.

The Storm return to action Thursday as they host Lake Superior State University at 6:00 pm.
