ASHLAND, OHIO – Host Ashland University scored the game's first seven points and never looked back, sending the Lake Erie College women's basketball team to a 78-52 defeat in the Storm's season finale Saturday (Feb. 26) at Kates Gymnasium in Ashland.

Elizabeth Tyler scored 13 of her game-high 24 points as the Eagles (17-9, 12-7 GLIAC) shot 53% from the floor in the first 20 minutes and took a 35-23 lead into halftime.

Ashland continued to shoot well in the second half, extending the margin to 21 points midway through the period.  The Storm (3-22, 2-17 GLIAC) shot just 30.6% in the game and never got closer than 18 points in the final 10 minutes.

Freshman Chrissy Delaney (Delaware, Ohio/Lewis Center Olentangy) was the only Lake Erie player in double figures, matching her career high with 10 points.  Junior forward Jen Caiola (South Russell, Ohio/Chagrin Falls) added nine points.

Tyler, who went 10-of-14 from the field, was one of four Eagles in double figures. Daiva Grebec had 15 and Lindsay Tenyak and Mikaela Lengal each scored 11 points.  Grebec also grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds as Ashland held a 43-33 rebounding edge.

The loss was the six straight for Lake Erie to end the season.
