PAINESVILLE, OHIO -- The Lake Erie College women's basketball team was picked to finish fifth in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) South Division in voting conducted by the league's media members released as part of the GLIAC Basketball Media Day website launch on Oct. 28. The Storm is entering its first season as a member of the conference.
Junior forward Jen Caiola (South Russell, Ohio/Chagrin Falls) was named to the Preseason All-GLIAC South Division Second Team by the league's coaches. Caiola was second on the team a year ago in scoring, averaging 13.4 points per game. She also hit a school-record 71 three-pointers and is one of four starters returning from last year's record-setting 18-9 team that finished the year ranked 10th in the Great Lakes Region.
In the media poll, the Storm received 64 points, one more than Tiffin University and 19 ahead of fellow GLIAC newcomer Ohio Dominican University. The University of Findlay was picked to be the South's top team. Grand Valley State University was the top pick in the North.
