ALLIANCE, Ohio – The Lake Erie College track and field team was in action today as they competed in the Mount Union Tune Up.
Head Coach Giles Davis said, "We have a lot of positive momentum heading into the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Championships. The athletes are gaining more confidence in themselves and the training."
The Lake Erie women were led by Johanna Moeller (Bochum, Germany / Schiller-Schule Gymnasium Furjungen Und Madchen) as she won the 60 meter hurdles, as she crossed the finish line in a time of 9.38 seconds. Madyson Plante (Marlborough, Mass. / Marlborough) added a first place finish in the high jump as she cleared a height of 1.65 meters or 5 feet five inches. Gina Henley (Akron, New York / Akron HS) earned a third place finish in the 5,000 meters as she finished in a time of 20:06.95 minutes. Catherine Beisel (Geneva, Ohio / Geneva) added a strong performance in the 3,000 meters, as she placed fifth in a time of 11:36.31 minutes. Hailey Vanhoy (Geneva, Ohio / Geneva) earned ninth place honors in the 800 meters with a time of 2:29.29 minutes.
The Storm men were led by Konnell Woods (Addison, Texas / Greenhill School) finished fifth in the 60 meter hurdles, as he crossed the line in a time of 8.5 seconds. Joseph Pearce (Chardon, Ohio / Chardon) placed ninth in the 400 meter dash, finishing in a time of 56.36 seconds. Xavier Kibet (Nakuru, Kenya / Baringo) added a solid performance in the 3,000 meters, as he crossed the line in 10th with a time of 9:24.63 minutes.
Lake Erie will return to the track Friday (Feb. 23) when they travel to compete in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Championships.
