TIFFIN, Ohio – The Lake Erie College track and field team was in action today (February 13th) as they competed in the Dragon Invite at Tiffin University.
The Storm men were led by Sean Stone (Newton Falls, Ohio / Southeast) as he took first place in the weight throw with a distance of 17.21 meters or 56 feet 5.75 inches. Jimmy Ritt (Mentor, Ohio / Mentor) also placed high in the weight throw as he cleared a distance of 15.67 meters or 51 feet 5 inches, which earned him third place honors.
Christopher Vogel (Kirchberg, Germany / Sportgymnasium Chemnitz) took third place honors in the triple jump with a distance of 13.53 meters or 44 feet 4.75 inches.
The women were led by Danielle Corbin (Brooklyn, N.Y. / Walnut Grove (Ga.) as she placed second in the long jump as she cleared a distance of 5.45 meters or 17 feet 10.75 inches.
The distance medley relay team of Hailey Vanhoy (Geneva, Ohio / Geneva), Gina Henley (Akron, Ohio / Akron HS), Aleea Volkman (Wauseon, Ohio / Wauseon), and Aneesa Volkman (Wauseon, Ohio / Wauseon) crossed the finish line in a time of 14:18.45 minutes to earn second place honors.
The 4X400 relay team of Nadia Lee (Tucker, Ga. / Tucker), Ashley Pryce (Stow, Ohio / Stow Munroe Falls), Haley Menix (Alexandria, Ohio / Northridge), and Vanhoy, placed third in a time of 4:09.35 minutes.
Lake Erie will return to the track Saturday (February 20th) when they travel to compete in the Kent St. Tune Up.
