GENEVA, Ohio— The Lake Erie College track and field teams faced some of the top competition in the country as they competed at the SPIRE Midwest Indoor Open Saturday (Jan. 31) at SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio.
Joe Postwaite (Rochester, N.Y./Gates-Chili) had the top finish for the Storm men, winning the triple jump with a leap of 15.07 meters.
Vincent Horning (Stow, Ohio/Stow) took sixth in the one mile run with a time of 4:19.23. Horning also took eighth in the 800 meter run with a time of 1:57.48
The Storm had a strong showing in the 600 meter dash. Keith Hemphill (Warrensville, Ohio/Cleveland Central Catholic) took fourth with a time of 1:25.31. Andrew Kemer (Medina, Ohio/Medina) finished second with a time of 1:25.55. Brian Havrilla (Willowick, Ohio/Notre Dame Cathedral Latin) took fifth with a time of 1:27.45.
Sean Stone (Newton Falls, Ohio/Southeast) took seventh in the weight throw with a toss of 16.18 meters.
Nadia Lee (Tucker, Ga./Tucker) had the top finish for the Storm women, winning the triple jump with a leap of 12.04 meters. Destiny Prusky (Newton Falls, Ohio/Newton Falls) placed second in the high jump, clearing 1.65 meters. Danielle Corbin (Atlanta, Ga.) took placed fifth in the long jump with a leap of 5.26 meters.
Ariana Jorgensen (Kleinburg, Ont./Emily Carr Secondary) placed fourth in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.91 seconds.
Kaitlyn Menges (New Philadelphia, Ohio/New Philadelphia) took eighth in the shot put with a toss of 11.96 meters.
The Storm is back in action at SPIRE next weekend when they take part of the Division-II Challenge.
