HILLSDALE, Mich. – On Saturday Lake Erie got a first-hand look at the facility that will host next week's (March 1-2) Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Indoor Championships. And the team and its coaching staff and fans continued to get a look at Storm athletes putting up impressive performances in the indoor season.
LEC posted a number of impressive distances and times at the Biermann Athletic Center in the Hillsdale Tune-Up hosted by Hillsdale College (Mich.).
"Today was a great chance to see the track and get a feel of where we will be running next week," said Interim Head Coach Ryan Rademaker. "There were several great things that happened, and we will be ready to compete against the best in the country next Saturday and Sunday."
Senior Jamil Dudley and junior Joe Postwaite were responsible for some of those things on Saturday in Michigan. Dudley notched a program-record 7.34-meter (24-01) performance in the men's long jump. That figure took first place on Saturday and it bested teammate Joe Postwaite who placed second. Dudley and Postwaite sit second and fourth on the GLIAC's top performances list, and both of their Saturday marks stand as NCAA-II provisional marks.
Also highlighting the performances for the Lake Erie men Saturday were Ethan Snyder and Keith Hemphill, who placed first and third, respectively, in the 400-meter run. Garrett Ondrus took fourth in the 60-meter hurdles. Christopher Vogel took third in the triple jump.
On the women's side, Nadia Lee won the long jump and placed second in the triple jump. Lee's triple jump distance – 11.5 meters (37-10.75) – is an NCAA-II provisional mark.
Destiny Prusky hit her fifth provisional mark of the season with a first-place, 1.68-meter (5-06) leap in the high jump.
