PUEBLO, COLO. -- Senior All-American Ethan Snyder (Salesville, Ohio/Buckeye Trail) opened the 2013 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships for the Lake Erie College track and field teams in fine fashion, running a season best time on his way to the finals of the men's 400-meter hurdles Thursday night (May 23).
Snyder placed second in his heat and fourth overall in the preliminary round with a time of 51.73 seconds. He was one of six runners under 52 seconds.
Previously this season, Snyder had run 52 seconds or lower three times, including 51.88 seconds at the Charger Classic at Hillsdale College earlier this month. His time Thursday night was just off his school-record time of 51.67 set at the 2010 NCAA Championships. That time also came in the preliminary round.
Snyder will now wait until Saturday night for the event finals.
Action continues for the Storm on Friday, May 24, when junior All-American Jamil Dudley (Massillon, Ohio/Massillon) looks to defend his national high jump championship. That event starts at 3:30 p.m. local time, 5:30 p.m. back in Painesville.
