PAINESVILLE, OHIO – The Lake Erie College men's track and field team is one of five Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) teams ranked in the top 25 in the first United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Division II Indoor Computer Rankings. The Storm men are ranked 11th in the debut poll.
Lake Erie finished 16th last year at the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships on the strength of four All-American performances. The 11th spot is the highest the school has ever been in the rankings during either the indoor or outdoor season, besting a season-high ranking of 13th prior to last year's outdoor national meet.
Ashland University (4), Grand Valley State University (6) and the University of Findlay (7) join Lake Erie in the top 12, while Lake Superior State University (25) is the fifth and final conference team in the standings.
The GLIAC also has five women's teams ranked in the top 25 nationally.
The Storm teams return to the track this weekend after the holiday break with a home meet at SPIRE Institute on Saturday, Jan. 21. That is the day of the GLIAC South Division Preview starting at 11:30 a.m.
