PAINESVILLE, OHIO – The Lake Erie College women's track and field teams earn individual Division II Track and Field All-Academic honors from the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). Sophomores Colleen Bednar (Brunswick, Ohio/Brunswick) and Kaitlyn Holland (Pickerington, Ohio/Pickerington North) were two of 311 student-athletes selected to the team.
To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and have met an NCAA automatic or provisional qualifying mark in an individual or relay event at some point in either indoor or outdoor seasons.
Bednar provisionally qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in the long jump – an event she placed in the top four in at both conference meets - and both she and Holland ran on the Storm's 4x100-meter relay team that also provisionally qualified. That same relay team won the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) championship.
Earlier this summer, Bednar, an adolescent/early childhood education major, and Holland, a biology major, were named to the Spring GLIAC All-Academic Excellence Squad.
