Softball Drops Two To Lakers

ERIE, Pa.- The Lake Erie College softball team lost both games in a doubleheader at Mercyhurst University this afternoon. The losses put the Storm at 9-19 overall for the 2019 season.

The Storm lost the first half of the doubleheader with a final score of 6-5. Rachel Ward pitched a complete game giving up five earned runs on 11 hits and one walk. The freshman earned two strikeouts in her third loss of the season. 

Peyton Brownlee went 3-4 at the plate with a double, scoring two runs with one RBI. Cheyanne Hamel doubled twice, going 2-3 at the plate and scoring one run with a walk.

In the second game of the doubleheader, the Storm lost 10-1 in five innings. The only run of the game was scored on a sacrifice fly hit by Kaitlyn Peacock to score Kristin Peacock who reached on a walk. 

Parker Viele gave up four earned runs on two hits and five walks. With the loss, the freshman's record falls to 5-5. Hayley Dix pitched in relief.

Storm outfielder Chloe Allen had the best day at the plate, going 4-6 between both games with one RBI. 

Lake Erie prepares for two G-MAC doubleheaders this weekend between Cedarville and Findlay.
