PAINESVILLE, Ohio- Lake Erie softball split with Kentucky Wesleyan softball with final scores of 6-5 (W), and 10-1.
The Storm started the first game off strong, earning a 4-0 lead by the bottom of the fourth inning. Kentucky Wesleyan began to chip away at the Storm lead, scoring three runs by the top of the sixth and taking the lead by the top of the seventh.
Peyton Brownlee led off the bottom of the seventh with a single, followed by a single by Chloe Allen. With runners on first and second, Kaitlin Peacock doubled to right-center field driving in two runs and securing the walk-off win for the Storm.
Parker Viele earned the win, improving her record to 5-3 with a complete game.
Game two was a 10-1 loss for the Storm. They scored their only run of the game in the bottom of the first when Cheyanne Hamel hit an RBI single. Hayley Dix started the game, earning the loss. Her record is now 1-4 in 2019. Freshman Rachel Ward pitched in relief and earned five strikeouts.
The Storm prepares for a home-field advantage, non-conference matchup, consisting of a doubleheader against Notre Dame College on Tuesday, April 9.
