FINDLAY, Ohio - The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) announced its 2017 All-GLIAC Softball Teams and Postseason Awards, the awards were voted on by the conference softball coaches.
The Storm had six women receive the honor of being named to an All-GLIAC team, as four players were named second team All-GLIAC and two were named All-GLIAC Honorable Mention.
The four second team All-GLIAC award winners are Savannah Karako (Fairport Harbor, Ohio / Lake Catholic) Kristin Peacock (Hebron, Ohio / Lakewood), Allyson Hajnosz (Lordstown, Ohio / Lordstown), and Marissa Rizzo (Northfield Center, Ohio / Nordonia). S. Karako led the Storm with a .415 batting average (seventh in the GLIAC). S. Karako also led the team in RBI (32) and was second on the team in doubles with 12. Kr. Peacock had a fantastic freshman year as she was second on the team in batting average (.368). Kr. Peacock led the Storm with 13 doubles; she had 21 RBI and hit a homerun. Hajnosz was named All-GLIAC for a third straight year. She had a batting average of .333 and had three doubles and a homerun. Rizzo was third on the team in batting average as she hit .356. Rizzo had six doubles on the season and led the Storm in stolen bases with 10.
The two athletes named honorable mention were Elizabeth Karako (Fairport Harbor, Ohio / Lake Catholic) and Kaitlyn Peacock (Hebron, Ohio / Lakewood). E. Karako played in all 38 games for the Storm and she was the cleanup hitter. She batted .333 on the season for the Storm. E. Karako led the Storm with four homeruns and was second on the team in RBI with 23. Ka. Peacock had a solid freshman season as she stepped in and played shortstop for the majority of the season. Ka. Peacock batted .257 on the season. She had eight doubles, one triple, and 16 RBI on the season.
