FINDLAY, Ohio-- The Lake Erie College softball team was unable to pick up their first Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) win as they fell to the University of Findla 12-0 and 11-0 Saturday (April 20) in Findlay, Ohio.
After posting a run in the bottom of the first inning, the Oilers (23-9, 11-7 GLIAC) posted seven runs in the second inning to amass an 8-0 lead. Findlay pitcher Brittany Dauterman held the Storm's bats at bay in game one, the Oilers cruised to the five-inning shutout.
Dauterman picked up her 10th win of the season on the mound, striking out nine Storm batters. Carly Borders led the Findlay offensive front with two hits, two runs and four RBI.
In game two, Findlay pitchers Tawna Whited and Bonnie Zappitelli combined for a no-hitter as the Storm only got two baserunners to reach on Oilers' errors. The duo combined for four strikeouts. Whited also led the offensive charge, getting three hits, including a two-run homerun, batting in four runners and scoring three times.
The Storm are back in action Sunday (April 21) when they head north to face Hillsdale College.
