One Inning Keeps Storm From Victory in Each Game

PAINESVILLE, Ohio (April 16, 2009) - It was just one inning in each of Thursday's games that kept Lake Erie College from earning victories as the Storm dropped a doubleheader to visiting Tiffin University, 12-1 and 4-2.

In the first game of the afternoon, the score remained tied at zero until the top of the fifth when the Dragons put a lone tally on the board. Then in the sixth, the visitors took advantage of three Storm miscues and totaled eight hits and 11 runs to go up 12-0. Lake Erie scored its only run of the game in its final at bat on an RBI single by freshman Jamie Wodecki (Northfield, Ohio/St. Peter Chanel).

In game two, Lake Erie went ahead 1-0 in the second inning after a lead off triple to right field by sophomore Danielle Finkler (Chardon, Ohio/Berkshire) followed by an RBI single by freshman Allison Heming (Cincinnati, Ohio/Turpin). The hosts then added another run in the next inning on a solo home run by senior Brittney Binko (Warren, Ohio/John F. Kennedy). Tiffin rallied to score three runs in the fifth - all unearned - in order to claim the win.

The Storm had seven hits - all by different hitters.

Lake Erie (5-26) travels to Tiffin at 3 p.m. Friday to close out the four-game series.
