INDIANAPOLIS - Jonathon Carr scored his sixth goal of the season on Sunday against Walsh, the goal puts Carr in a tie for the team lead with Ayden Von Essen. Carr the senior midfielder from Sunderland, England was selected as this week's Great Midwest Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week.
Carr started the week with a strong showing at home against Malone. In the match, Carr was able to score two goals and also recorded an assist. The match between the Storm and Pioneers the score was even all match until Carr scored in the 80th minute on an assist by Ameer Saade. Less than five minutes after scoring Carr notched his second goal unassisted, extending the Storm lead to 2-0. Within minutes of the second goal, the Storm scored again on an assist from Carr. Lake Erie finished the game with a 5-1 victory.
In Sunday's 2-0 victory at Walsh, Carr scored a goal in the opening 5 minutes of the match. Carr finished the match with one goal on four shot attempts.
On the season Carr leads the Storm in multiple offensive categories. In ten matches Carr has started each and has produced six goals, four assists, and 16 points. On the season Carr has also lifted Lake Erie with three game-winners.
Carr and the rest of his Storm teammates (10-0 overall, 6-0 G-MAC) will return to action on Friday, Oct. 11 as they travel to Nashville, Tenn., for an 8 p.m. match against Trevecca Nazarene.
