Storm Look To Continue Strong Start

(Painesville, Ohio)- The Lake Erie men's soccer team are back in action and on the road Friday, September 14 when they face Davenport University at 7 p.m. 

Both teams will be entering the match coming off of overtime thrillers. Davenport (0-2-0) went toe to toe and attempted to take down 12th ranked Lynn University. The Panthers were tied going into extra time when Lynn player Rodrigo Fernandez capped off a hat trick in the 94th minute taking down the Panthers of Davenport. 

On the other side of the spectrum, the Storm (3-0-0) was able to win its second overtime match of the season. Lake Erie took down conference opponent Malone in the 97th minute when Jonathon Carr was able to score off an assist by Rodrigo Bonfim.

Five different Storm players have tallied a goal in the first three matches of the season. The Storm defense and goalkeeper have yet to allow a goal producing three straight shutouts. 

Week one GMAC player of the week Tom John has averaged a 1.000 save percentage with nine saves in three games. 

Lake Erie will stay in Michigan on Sunday for a matchup versus the Northern Michigan Wildcats at the neutral site field hosted by Davenport University at 1 p.m. The Storm lead the series with the Wildcats (1-0-1), Sunday's matchup will be the first between the two teams since 2016.
