  • Men's Soccer Finishes Historic Year at No. 16

    In his third season at the helm of the program, head coach Louie Rolko and the 2019 Lake Erie men’s soccer team made strides of improvement through a talented roster and training that has started since the start of last season. In the final NCAA DII United Soccer Coaches Poll, the Storm came in at No. 16.

    The United Soccer Coaches announced its 2019 Division II All-America Team announced on Wednesday, Dec. 11. Jonathon Carr received Second Team honors as a midfielder.

    The Lake Erie men’s soccer team had three Storm members named to the D2CCA All-America Team for the 2019 season. Midfielder Jonathon Carr, defender Omar Oliveros-Alvarez, and goalkeeper Tom John earned accolades.

  • Coach Rolko & Staff Earn Midwest Region Staff of the Year Honors

    Another accomplishment to the 2019 Lake Erie men’s soccer team was given this week when the United Soccer Coaches announced on Wednesday the association’s 2019 Regional Staff of the Year. The Storm took home the award for Division II. 
  • Storm Suffer Heartbreaking Loss In The NCAA Second Round

    The Lake Erie Storm men’s soccer season came to a close today with a 2-0 loss to UIndy in the second round of the NCAA tournament. The G-MAC regular-season champion Storm finished the season with a record of 18-3. The 18 wins for Lake Erie are the most all-time in the program.

    Midfielder Jonathon Carr has been named the Division 2 Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) Midwest Region Player of the Year to headline a quintet of Lake Erie players on the All-Midwest Region Teams. Four were named to the first team with another listed on the second.

    The Lake Erie College men’s soccer team, 2019 Great Midwest Athletic Conference regular-season champion, will play host to the winner of the first-round matchup between Fort Hays St. and UIndy in NCAA Division II Men’s Soccer Championship this Saturday, November 23, 1 p.m. at Spire Institute.

    The Great Midwest Athletic Conference announced its postseason awards for men’s soccer for the 2019 season as selected by the conference coaches and Lake Erie swept all four season awards. Jonathon Carr was voted Offensive Player of the Year, Omar Oliveros-Alvarez was tabbed Defensive Player of the Year, Tom Akinola was voted Freshman of the Year, and Louie Rolko was voted Coach of the Year. 
  • Men's Soccer Defeats Malone In G-MAC Quarterfinals

    The No. 4 Lake Erie men’s soccer team soundly defeated the Malone Pioneers in a decisive 3-0 shutout to clinch their first victory in the 2019 G-MAC tournament. With the win, the Storm now moves on to face Tiffin on Thursday for the G-MAC semifinal in Dayton, Ohio.
  • Lake Erie Leads Region In Academic-All District Selections

    Three Lake Erie Storm student-athletes have been recognized for their efforts on and off the field as they were chosen to the 2019 Academic All-District® Men’s Soccer Team. Jonathan Carr (Sr., Sunderland, England) was chosen at midfield, while Omar Oliveros-Alvarez (Sr., Gijon Spain) and Jamos Hauk (So., Aglasterhausen, Germany) were both picked as defenders.

    The No. 4 Lake Erie College men’s soccer team will be hosting a Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) playoff match for the first time in program history on Saturday, as the Storm will host Malone in a quarterfinal at 7 p.m. from Jack Britt Memorial Stadium.

    The second rankings for Super Region 3 has been released and Lake Erie has retained on to its No. 1 spot after a pair of shutouts last week. The Storm, ranked No. 4 in the national poll released yesterday, holds an overall and in-region record of 17-1.

    After finishing the regular season perfect at home last week, Lake Erie remains in the top five in the national rankings at No. 4. It's the third time this season the Storm (17-1) has been ranked in the top five and is the highest-ranking in program history.

    The Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) has announced its weekly awards following the tenth week of the 2019 men’s soccer season. Lake Erie goalkeeper Tom John (Ahrensburg, Germany) took the honors as Defensive player of the week. Offensive player of the week honors went to forward Jonathon Carr (Sunderland, England) as the Storm finished the week with two wins over Ohio Valley and Alderson Broaddus.
  • Storm Records 12th Clean Sheet In Regular Season Finale

    The No. 5 Lake Erie (17-1, 13-1 G-MAC) used four second half goals, paired with another in the first half, to beat Alderson Broaddus (6-10-1, 3-8-1 G-MAC) 5-0 at Jack Britt Memorial Stadium on Saturday.

    The first Super-Region 3 rankings for men’s soccer came out today and has Lake Erie at the top spot. The Storm debut with a record of 15-1 and are ranked No. 5 nationally.

    The perfect season ended for No. 5 Lake Erie as it was upset by Cedarville by a score of 1-0 Wednesday evening. The Storm (12-1, 8-1) were neck-and-neck with the Yellow Jackets (6-1-5, 4-1-4) throughout the game, but a free kick by the hosts in the middle of first half proved to be enough.
