PAINESVILLE, Ohio- The Lake Erie College men's soccer team will begin a stretch of four consecutive home matches this week with two Great Midwest matchups at Jack Britt Memorial Stadium. The Storm will host the Alderson Broaddus University Battlers on Thursday (Sept. 21) at 6:30 PM and the Davis & Elkins College Senators on Saturday (Sept. 23) at 3:00 PM.
Storm Report: Lake Erie is 1-5 overall and 0-4 in Great Midwest matches this season. The Storm fell 3-1 to Walsh on Tuesday (Sept. 19) night. Javier Borreguero (Nigran, Spain / Los Sauces School) scored the only goal for the Storm, his team-leading fourth of the campaign.
"Our biggest issue recently has been our slow starts," said Storm head coach Louie Rolko. "We have conceded early in the past few games and it forces us to chase the game. Heading into the weekend, we need to start off better and be the team that scores the first goal. We need to be the team on the front foot and force the opposition to chase the game."
Opposition Position: The Battlers travel to Painesville with a 3-2-2 overall mark and a 2-0-2 G-MAC record. Alderson Broaddus defeated the Walsh Cavaliers 3-0 in their latest match. Ashley Sibisi leads the Battlers with three goals scored this season. Davis & Elkins have won three straight and enter with an overall record of 4-1-1. The Senators are 3-0-1 in conference matches following a 1-0 win over Ohio Dominican on Tuesday. Tim Staerz is the leading scorer with four goals for D&E.
Series History: Lake Erie and Alderson Broaddus have met three times before on the pitch. The Storm have won all three matchups, with the last match being a 3-1 triumph in 2014. Lake Erie and Davis & Elkins have not met since 2009, where the Senators were victorious in a 4-2 game.
Storm Forecast: The Storm will host Walsh and Malone in Great Midwest contests next week at the Britt.
